A Short History

The Montgomery County Literacy Project was started in 1985 by Frank and Gloria Wendell.  Frank, as a judge, Gloria as a community volunteer, became aware of literacy needs in our county and decided to do something about it.  Over the past few decades, hundreds of student have developed reading skills, passed the GED exam, gotten jobs, and attended college as a result.

We serve adults living in Montgomery County who want to improve their reading skills, learn English as a second language or get a GED.
